Department of Agricultural Economics
The Department of Agricultural Economics was established as a department within the Faculty of Agriculture in the 1997–1998 academic year and began admitting students. Since it addresses and examines the economic aspects of all fields of agriculture, it is an applied social science discipline. Therefore, it has a distinctive characteristic compared to the other departments of the Faculty of Agriculture.
The main functions of the Department of Agricultural Economics are education, research, and extension. In this context, the department undertakes the tasks of conducting research that produces solutions to the economic, social, and political problems of agriculture at both micro and macro levels, transferring these solutions into practice, disseminating the results obtained to relevant fields, and sharing them with stakeholders.
The primary objective of the department is to train specialized personnel needed by the country by offering undergraduate, master’s, and doctoral education in Agricultural Economics. In this way, the department aims to contribute to national development by educating technical staff for both public institutions and the private sector who can contribute to scientific advancement in the field of Agricultural Economics and closely follow and apply technological developments.
