Recent advances in molecular biology and genetics have introduced new approaches to agricultural production and enabled the application of biotechnology in agriculture. Biotechnology has gained significant importance by facilitating the development of products that were once unimaginable and by providing solutions to problems that cannot be resolved through conventional methods. Consequently, it has evolved into a scientific discipline that not only concerns the scientific community but also has a profound impact on society as a whole. Traditional agricultural technologies have become insufficient to ensure the sustainable continuation of agricultural production under increasingly adverse environmental conditions and the pressures imposed by a rapidly growing global population. Agricultural biotechnology offers innovative approaches and advanced technologies to support the transformation and modernization of agricultural production systems. The primary objective of the Department of Agricultural Biotechnology is to educate qualified and competent professionals who can effectively apply biotechnology. This area has developed rapidly in recent years and possesses substantial potential for agricultural applications to agricultural production systems. The department aims to contribute to the advancement of agricultural biotechnology both nationally and internationally by providing practical and research-oriented education in molecular biology and genetics, genomics and proteomics, molecular breeding, genetic transformation techniques in plants, and the detection of genetic modifications, as well as plant tissue culture techniques.
