Introduction
Animal Science (Zootechnics) is a branch of science that deals with the breeding, reproduction, care, feeding, and improvement of domestic animals for the economic production of animals and animal products.
Aims and Objectives of the Animal Science Department
The aim of the Animal Science Department is to conduct high-quality research to improve the quality of life of society through the production of healthy and sufficient animal food from farm to table, and to train Animal Scientists/Agricultural Engineers who possess sufficient knowledge and skills, are entrepreneurial and well-equipped, carry the universal qualities of the profession, and contribute to science.
The main objectives of the department are to train animal scientists/agricultural engineers who will serve in the field of animal husbandry, to train scientists, and to contribute to animal science at regional, national, and international levels by planning and conducting R&D activities. In this context, it provides education at the undergraduate and graduate levels, plans and conducts research in the field, and provides information support to private and public institutions and organizations.
Physical Structure
The Animal Science Department includes the Department of Animal Breeding and Improvement, the Department of Feeds and Animal Nutrition, and the Department of Biometrics and Genetics. The education, application, and research activities of the Animal Science Department are carried out in livestock farms located within the Faculty of Agriculture campus.
